At a time when the call of the nation is to march ahead and become a powerful country in the world in all spheres of activities, we at Basavakalyan Educational Trust, have the vision, Commitment and resources to provide excellent Education in the field of Technology to deserving students from all over INDIA. An imposing building with spacious class rooms and air conditioned Computer Laboratories have been constructed on a 30 Acres verdant green land. Workshops with all the state of art equipment have been setup. Hostels and other facilities are fast under completion. Our objective is to make this a model institution in this region and thus contribute to the noble task of nation building.

I have been privileged to be associated with Shri Attur for over a decade now. Drawn by his vision and commitment, I have traveled with him extensively all over Karnataka Particularly, when he was the minister for Higher Education in the Government of Karnataka. As a youth, I am greatly inspired to take up the cause of higher Technical Education as the Secretary of Basavakalyan Educational Trust. I am confident that through constant interaction with young students, I will be able to contribute immensely for the realization of their dreams and aspirations and thus enable the success of the college.
In a very short time, the college has attracted a number of students from both with in and outside the Karnataka State. Over 30% of the students are from outside Karnataka. What makes this college attractive to students is the sincerity in approach to provide quality Engineering Education. There is a missionary zeal evident in all. The Trustees of the Trust, the Teachers and the staff at the college are deeply motivated by the enlightened leadership and commitment.

The college has been provided with the best of facilities, comparable to any leading institution in the state. Air-conditioned computer laboratories with the state of the art equipment, large spacious and well-ventilated class rooms, amply stocked library and workshops and hygienic cafeteria, homelike hostels, sports and recreational facilities, etc.

As a treasurer of BET I am glad to convey this message and I extend a very warm welcome to you all.
Basavakalyan Engineering college is the brainchild of Shri Basavaraj Patil Attur who is a philanthropist, visionary, represented Basavakalyan constituency in the legislative assembly from 1983 to 1999 and now a sitting MLA. He served as a minister for Higher Education, irrigation & small scale industries, was awarded “Best Citizen of India” by a Delhi based publishing house for this outstanding contribution in the public service field, and Shri Dhanraj S. Talampally who is one of the best entrepreneur from this place having well established firms in Bangalore and Bidar. Both had a common vision of providing technical expertise to the aspiring students of the region and the country.

They have both invested their precious time and money in realizing their vision by establishing this institution. The college has come a long way under their leadership and inspiration, after it was established. We at BKEC are proud of them and looking forward to their continued guidance and support. Also the Governing Council Chairman Shri Dilipkumar S. Talampally who is a master strategist, has done great work with his unbeatable ideas to help the institution grow after it was established.
As you all know these are days of keen competition and we are doing our best to improve the standards of teaching and infrastructure in the college. The management and the staff of the college are committed to their job. Because of the high quality of teaching staff and the discipline inculcated by them in the students, many alumini of the college are going places with maximum of them occupying important positions in MNCs like Wipro, Infosys, TCS etc. Also quite a number of them are pursuing their higher studies in countries like USA, UK, Australia to name a few.
I personally believe that the goal of education should not only be to help students acquire their livelihood but also to help them manifest their inherent divinity, to bring out the soul force within them so that they can achieve the unachievable. Also nowadays majority of the educational institutions are working only with a profit motive and monitory considerations which is disastrous to the future of the students and the country. I assure you that we at BKEC are not motivated by any monitary considerations at all but by a feeling to serve the students community and the satisfaction of having made the future of the country. We are here for QUALITY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE only. My vision for the college can be summed up by the following lines from rigveda.

HISTORY

Basavakalyan is a historical town of Bidar District in Karnataka State, India. During the 12th century, it was the capital of the Kingdom of Sri Bajjala, who belonged to the dynasty of Kalchuri Chalukyas. Lord Basaveshwara, a pious personality known for his generosity was the benevolent Prime Minister of this Kingdom. He carried out here an unprecedented revolution for establishing a society free from exploitation and discrimination on account of caste, religion, language and gender. For him, compassion was the foundation of religion. He tirelessly worked for the establishment of a welfare state. Soon his name and fame spread to different parts of the Indian peninsula like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, Orissa, Gujrat and even to far off places like Kashmir. Even people in countries as far as Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were inspired by him and his mission. Men, women and even kings were drawn to this place where they practiced simple life by adhering to the philosophy “WORK IS WORSHIP” These trulypious people were called SHIVASHRANAS. Lord Basaveshwara established for the first time a real democratic religious parliament known as Anubhava Mantap. It is here, the Shivasharanas carried out the democratic exercise of sharing their experiences for solving the problems of the society. Kannada language attained its zenith of glory during this period. This democratic movement led the development of “ VACHANA SAHITHYA” a profound form of literature in Kannada. Today, it is the most valuable literature which has all the solutions to our present manifold problems, if one truly followed it. Thus Lord Basaveshwara is hailed as the first revolutionary thinker and social reformer of modern India. It is here in the 14th century, Raja Bagh Sawar, a noted sufi saint spread the message of communal harmony among all communities. The holy Sadguru Sadanand Swamy math has been also contributing greatly for love, harmony and peace among different communities living here. Basavakalyan is today the most important commercial place, with population of nearly one lakh. It is a multi-lingual and multi-religious town, known for harmony and peace. It only shows the influence of the message of Lord Basaveshwara and his followers still prevails with full fragrance.

                     The Basavakalyan Educational Trust’s first creation is Basavakalyan Engineering College which was established in the year 1999. The Basavakalyan Engineering College is located in a vast green patch of 30 Acres adjacent to the National Highway No. 9 between Basavakalyan and Humnabad, In tune with international standards an integrated campus is designed to provide congenial atmosphere for learning. The Basavakalyan is a self-financing institution recognized by AICTE New Delhi and aGovt. Of Karnataka vide order NO. (1) 770-53-267(E)/ET/99 Dt: 28-06-1999 (AICTE) and (2) D.O. No. Ed55 URG 98 Dt: 19-11-1999 (Govt. of Karnataka) and affiliated to Vishveshwariah Technological University, Belgaum.
                     The courses offered at our institution, have tremendous employment opportunities in the global market. By providing state of the art learning infrastructure within the integrated college campus and experienced teaching faculty are the hallmarks of the institution. Located in vast green land, adjacent to the national highway No. 9, between Basavakalyan and Humnabad, it has an ideal location in verdant expanses. In line with international standards, the campus is designed to be completely integrated and congenial for students academic learning.
                     The master plan, already in place in great measure, is to be completed in short span of time. It meets such requirements as residential, recreational, academic, research, leisure, sports, healthcare, library, workshops, laboratories, bank, shopping areas, etc. plans are in the anvil to integrate technological features such as complete computer networking of all facilities, within the campus, providing for dedicated internet access, etc. The modular design provides for expansion and inclusion of futuristic features in the infrastructure and in the next few years to come.
